December's here already- wow, the year really flew by! This time, Infinity Lab had the opportunity to share some Christmas spirit with our performance in the Senior Center. To add to the festive mood, everyone wore holiday-themed outfits and Santa hats, and we had all agreed to prepare a special song for Christmas to play today.

This time, it was Elena's first time hosting the performance! With quite the vibrant attitude, she introduced herself as well as setting up the piano and passing out programs.

The show started with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," performed by one of our performers' dad, Scott, who played the trumpet, and invited some of our other performers to sing along.

After the exciting opening song, I performed "Christmas Time is Here" on the piano, a quiet and smooth piece I personally chose from A Charlie Brown Christmas. I also wore a Peanuts-themed T-shirt for the occasion!

My performance was followed by Cielle's beautiful rendition of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," followed by her second song, "Snowman," which was also quite a show.

Chloe Wong was next, performing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" on the cello. You'll notice that she even wore a Christmas hat with two reiendeer ears!

After Chloe, it was Elena's turn to add to the festivities. She decided to try something new this time, by both singing and playing some popular Christmas songs! Elena later explained that she had felt nervous about how the seniors would react, but when she started with "Let It Snow" she received a big round of applause. Their encouragement boosted her confidence, and she then moved on to "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" with bolstered spirit. It was a joyous experience to be able to hear her performance!

Next, Chloe Li performed a piano piece, "The Christmas Song," followed by a lively collaboration between her friends Grace Ma, Grace Young, and Elena to sing "Frosty the Snowman." It was the first time any of them had sung at the senior center, and I think they did fantastic!

Grace Ma was up next. Unlike usual, she didn’t report her performance ahead of time but instead surprised us on the program. She usually played the Guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument, but it was nowhere in sight, so we all wondered what she had planned. It was indeed a big surprise- she performed "Jingle Bells" on another traditional Chinese instrument, the hulusi (also known as the cucurbit flute or gourd flute). Her performance was quite impressive, and even more remarkable than usual!

Finally, Benjamin closed the program by playing several pieces on the violin, accompanied by his parents, who sang along with him. We were very thankful that their whole family shared their music with us. The familiar tunes even prompted some seniors to sing along, creating a heartwarming moment.

After the performance, it was time for some games! Besides some of our performers who stayed to host the games, more of our members, Alice and Marcus, also joined the team to serve the seniors.

This visit, we played Bingo, a classic favorite among the seniors. We introduced a new "Bingo Dollars" system, allowing players to earn prizes with their winnings. We played many rounds, ending only when someone achieved a blackout. Each participant received a Bingo dollar, everyone with any type of Bingo got a chocolate, and the first person to achieve each type of Bingo earned 10 Bingo dollars. It was fun to play alongside the seniors and share laughs with those who had multiple wins (they might have been hoarding too much chocolate for their own good!)

This month's performance felt even better than the others! It was a joy to be able to share delight with the seniors and listen to what each of our performers had in store. Go Infinity Lab, and have a very merry Christmas!
