Bingo, Uno, and a Special Invitation - 6/1/2025 Game Hosting

We always know that there are two part in the Senior home we visit: upstairs and dowstairs,upstairs is the place we usurally visit and downstairs is the place where seniors special care. Today, for the first time, we seperate our voulunteer group into two and visit seniors at the same time both up and downstairs. Boys are assigned upstairs with seniors play Bingo as usual we did, while girls were led downstairs to the memory care seniors to play Uno with them.

Downstires are Alice and Elena, before we started the game, we passed out candy to all the seniors in the room, including the ones who weren't playing Uno. There were 5 players: Linda, Flor, Fransisco, "Gramma", and Flo. Linda had a bit of trouble at the start of the game, but as it went on, she got the idea and almost won another game later. Flor and Fransisco had great senses of humor, and joked around throughout the hour. Gramma had a hard time sorting and finding the right cards to play, but she landed 2nd place in one of the games. Flo was, as the others were, really sweet, and was always happy even if she didn't win.

Overall, the downstairs experience was nice, and after we finished hosting all the Uno games, we returned upstairs. Here, Marcus and Rien were still playing Bingo with the rest of the seniors, and girls joined them finish up their last game.

They played 3 rounds,We awarded bingo bucks to the winners for straight-line, diagonal, four-corners, and blackout rounds.

Once the games wrapped up, we shared a really special moment with Mary, who’s 99 today but turning 100 later this month! She’s always so cheerful, full of energy, and just a joy to be around. Since she’s told us a few times how much she’d love to sing, Elena made a card on behalf of Infinity Lab to officially invite her to perform at our next event as part of her birthday celebration.

Mary was so happy to get the invite—and of course, she treated us to a patriotic song right then and there! Her voice was clear and strong, and it was so heartwarming to see her still so sharp and full of life. We can’t wait to celebrate her big day with her soon and see her sing with us on stage!
